Ramanujan, who represented India to Cambridge University in England, was born on 22-12-1887 in Erode, a small village in the southern part of India, Madras Presidency. He didn’t speak for 3 years after born. His father worked as a clerk in a cloth shop. He had a Life fraught with adversities due to poverty.

Ramanujan always demonstrated an affinity for Mathematics during his schooling. He was never tutored and taught Mathematics. He was a self-taught lad. Ramanujan got a book named “A Synopsis of Elementry Results in Pure and Applied Mathematics”. He set about insanely and obsessively studying its several theorems and then became apt to formulate his own.

He was called from Cambridge University in England seeing his performance in mathematics. He spent his five years studying Mathematics and formulating his own equations. Ramanujan was a person who knew the answers to questions but was not fine at presenting them with proof. He used to say all those answers came to him from his goddess Namagiri. He studied brutally and burnt the midnight oil to prove his answers.
